KANSAS CITY, Mo. \u2014 The Kansas City Chiefs are headed to their seventh straight AFC Championship after defeating the Houston Texans, the second most in NFL history.<\/p>\n
And while that feat is nearly unprecedented, there has been plenty of chatter among opposing fanbases NFL fans that some of their success should be credited to the referees the games are\u00a0rigged for the Chiefs<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n Although, it\u2019s not only fans, but also one of the best players on the Texans also expressed the same sentiments.<\/p>\n \u201cWe knew it was going to be us against the refs going into this game,\u201d Texans DE\u00a0Will Anderson said<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0after the loss to the Chiefs.<\/p>\n Anderson was called for\u00a0roughing the passer<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0on Patrick Mahomes in the first quarter on 3rd & 8. That call extended the Chiefs\u2019 drive where they eventually kicked a field goal.<\/p>\n NFL referee\u00a0Clay Martin gave an explanation<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0as to why the penalty was called.<\/p>\n \u201cI had forcible contact to the facemask area and so I went with roughing the passer on the play,\u201d Martin said.<\/p>\n Martin also gave an explanation after Texans linebacker Henry To\u2019oTo\u2019o was called for unnecessary roughness late in the third quarter after\u00a0Mahomes slid to the ground<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0and To\u2019oTo\u2019o collided<\/p>\n \u201cHe slid, obviously, and when he slides, he is considered defenseless. The onus is on the defender. I had forcible contact there to the hairline, to the helmet.<\/p>\n Houston had eight penalties for 29 yards while the Chiefs had four for 32 yards.<\/p>\n
