Carrie Underwood has said she is \u2018honored\u2019 and \u2018humbled\u2019 to sing at Donald Trump\u2019s presidential inauguration in a statement addressing her upcoming controversial performance.<\/p>\n

\u2018I love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the Inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,\u2019 Underwood, 41, said in a statement obtained by USA Today.<\/p>\n

\u2018I am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.\u2019<\/p>\n

The country singing superstar, 41, is scheduled to sing America The Beautiful after Trump is sworn in \u2013 as well as his vice president pick JD Vance.<\/p>\n

Fans are divided at the news, with some praising the artist, and others condemning her controversial move of performing at Trump\u2019s inauguration.<\/p>\n

As one fan put it: \u2018Carrie\u2019s about to have the whole country talking. Iconic move or controversial queen?\u2019<\/p>\n

One person said: \u2018Disgusting, thought she had morals. It was all a sham,\u2019 while another thanked her via X, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n

Carrie is set to perform the song on January 20th with The Armed Forces Chorus and The United States Naval Academy Glee Club after the presidential oath of office is administered to Trump by the Chief of Justice of the United States.<\/p>\n

Another called it \u2018perfect\u2019 while another said she was a \u2018solid choice.\u2019<\/p>\n

One X user made it a point to insult Taylor Swift in their tweet \u2013 as the singer was very vocal about her support of Kamala Harris and her bid to the presidency.<\/p>\n

\u2018Sorry Taylor Swift you didn\u2019t make the cut,\u2019 they wrote harshly.<\/p>\n

One person brought up a 2017 skit Carrie took part in with her CMAs co-host Brad Paisley.<\/p>\n

The X user had written: \u2018How convenient for her liberal a**. Bend the knee, stupid b****.\u2019<\/p>\n

In 2017, Carrie and Brad poked fun at Trump\u2019s tweets at the time.<\/p>\n

\u2018Now Brad, I don\u2019t know if you heard about this, but the CMA has given us some \u201cguidelines\u201d with specific topics to avoid,\u2019 she said during the live broadcast.<\/p>\n

At that point, Brad starts playing the guitar and sings to the beat of Carrie\u2019s song Before He Cheats \u2013 while using new lyrics.<\/p>\n

Carrie reacted simply with: \u2018Well, here we go.\u2019<\/p>\n

Brad continued: \u2018In the middle of the night, from the privacy of a gold-plated White House toilet seat, he writes little Bob Corker, NFL and covfefe.\u2019<\/p>\n

At that point, they both laughed about \u2018covfefe\u2019 which was what is thought to be a spelling error that Trump, 78, did in a tweet he shared after becoming President in January 2017.<\/p>\n

\u2018And it\u2019s fun to watch, yeah, thats for sure, until little rocked man stars a nuclear war. And then maybe next time he\u2019ll think before he tweets,\u2019 Brad sang.<\/p>\n

In 2019, Carrie spoke to The Guardian, where she said that she likes to \u2018stay far out of politics if possible, at least in public, because nobody wins.\u2019<\/p>\n

She added: \u2018It\u2019s crazy. Everybody tries to sum everything up and put a bow on it, like it\u2019s black and white. And it\u2019s not like that.\u2019<\/p>\n
