Patrick Mahomes<\/a>\u00a0is counting on his teammate\u00a0Travis Kelce<\/a>\u00a0to help the Chiefs make it to their third consecutive Super Bowl.<\/p>\n

Mahomes, 29,\u00a0spoke<\/a>\u00a0to media at a\u00a0press conference<\/a>\u00a0on Tuesday, Jan. 14 where the quarterback said he anticipates Kelce, 35, to “step up” when Kansas City hosts the Houston Texans on Jan. 18.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe greats, they step up in the playoffs, and it\u2019s just higher intensity,\u201d said Mahomes, who\u00a0welcomed his third child<\/a>\u00a0Golden Raye with wife Brittany Mahomes on Jan. 13.<\/p>\n

<\/div>\n

He continued, \u201cThe best players and the best leaders step up and make the best plays, and he\u2019s done that, so I expect the same from him going into this playoffs.\u201d<\/p>\n

When asked about the tight end’s mentality going into the playoffs \u2014 where the Chiefs are hoping to make NFL history as the league’s first-ever team to win three consecutive championships \u2014 Mahomes said he thinks Kelce “resonates with the entire team” and “gets everybody to play their best football.”<\/p>\n

“And that’s what it takes in order to win championships,” Mahomes said of Kelce’s winning mentality.<\/p>\n

The couple’s newest addition joins daughter\u00a0Sterling Skye<\/a>, 3,\u00a0and son,\u00a0Patrick “Bronze” Lavon Mahomes III<\/a>, 2.<\/p>\n

During Tuesday’s press conference, the quarterback was asked if he and Brittany are planning for a fourth child. “I’m good with three for right now,” Mahomes responded.<\/p>\n
