The Sheinelle Jones mystery has been solved.<\/p>\n

Jones, 46, the third-hour co-host of \u201cToday\u201d, was noticeably absent from the beloved morning show late last week \u2014\u00a0missing\u00a0Hoda Kotb\u2019s monumental final show<\/a>\u00a0after nearly\u00a018 years\u00a0on Friday, Jan. 10.<\/p>\n

When she failed to appear on Monday, Jan. 13, viewers grew increasingly concerned following rumblings of possible shakeups at the network.<\/p>\n

But Jones finally confirmed the reason for her absence on Wednesday morning in\u00a0a statement<\/a>\u00a0on Instagram.<\/p>\n

\u201cHi everybody\u2026.I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I\u2019ve been absent from the show,\u201d she wrote. \u201cI want to share with you that I\u2019m taking time to deal with a family health matter.\u201d<\/p>\n

She continued, \u201cIt\u2019s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not only the support of my Today Show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I\u2019ll see you soon. Love, Sheinelle.\u201d<\/p>\n

Savannah Guthrie read Jones\u2019 statement on \u201cToday\u201d on Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe want to share some news here about our friend Sheinelle. We know so many of you have been asking about Sheneille and missing her and we miss her too,\u201d said Guthrie, 53.<\/p>\n

Craig Melvin added, \u201cWe all love you and we are so looking forward to having you back.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guthrie also showed support for her co-anchor on her Instagram post, commenting, \u201cWe love you so. not the same without you. we will see you soon\u00a0\u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jenna Bush Hager said, \u201cYou are a queen and are LOVED beyond measure! Wrapping our arms around you, always\u00a0\u2764\ufe0f.\u201d<\/p>\n

Before Jones\u2019 announcement, many viewers were up in arms that she wasn\u2019t present to bid farewell to Kotb, 60.<\/p>\n

\u201cNot even a recorded piece from @SheinelleJones on the @TODAYshow for @hodakotb\u2019s last day?! Seems odd. Hope she\u2019s ok,\u201d one worried viewer\u00a0wrote on X<\/a>, formerly Twitter.<\/p>\n

\u201cI loved the HODA bration but really wondered why Sheinelle Jones wasn\u2019t among the cast?\u201d added a second watcher.<\/p>\n

\u201c@TODAYshow can u tell us where Sheinelle Jones is? So odd she is missing the #Hoda K\u2019s farewell!\u201d begged a third.<\/p>\n

\u201cToday\u201d weatherman Al Roker ackowledged Jones\u2019 absence from her usual segment Friday, telling viewers at home that \u201cSheinelle is off,\u201d according to\u00a0USA Today<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Jill Martin has been filling in for Jones.<\/p>\n

This isn\u2019t the first time Jones has been absent on the show since joining the \u201cWeekend Today\u201d team in 2014. Jones became co-host on the third-hour of \u201cToday\u201d in Jan. 2019.<\/p>\n

She was nowhere to be found on the Nov. 15 episode, but returned the following Monday, revealing she had traveled to speak at an event for the Society of Professional Women.<\/p>\n

In 2020, Jones took a break from \u201cToday\u201d for several weeks while she\u00a0recovered from vocal cord surgery<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s been a long time coming,\u201d she told her co-hosts on the air at the time,\u00a0per Page Six<\/a>.<\/p>\n

She was also forced to turn down several public speaking events as her doctor ordered her not to speak for two weeks following the surgery, which came with an expected six weeks of recovery.<\/p>\n

Despite Jones\u2019 absence, Kotb went out with a bang on Friday.<\/p>\n

Several people made surprise visits for her goodbye episode,\u00a0including her former \u201cToday\u201d co-host Kathie Lee Gifford<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Kotb\u2019s final \u201cToday\u201d episode came with a ton of tears, as she broke down crying with close pal and\u00a0\u201cToday\u201d co-host Jenna Bush Hager<\/a>.<\/p>\n
