With training camp approaching and the regular season less than two months away, the\u00a0Dallas Cowboys<\/a>\u00a0and quarterback\u00a0Dak Prescott<\/a>\u00a0continue to work on hammering out a contract extension.<\/p>\n

Dak Prescott is entering the final season of a four-year, $160 million deal he signed in the 2021 offseason. The Cowboys cannot franchise tag Prescott next year, so he\u2019ll be eligible to hit free agency in 2025 if a contract extension is not reached.<\/p>\n

According to\u00a0NFL Network\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0Ian Rapoport, there\u2019s a possibility that Prescott\u2019s new deal could carry a league-high $60 million-per-year salary:<\/p>\n

\u201cPeople have mentioned the number 60, as in $60 million per year. The fact that that\u2019s not crazy just based on where he is, what the numbers have been, the kind of leverage he has\u2026this could be the kind of contract we\u2019re talking about.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow and Jacksonville Jaguars signal-caller Trevor Lawrence signed matching five-year, $275 million extensions. They share the highest average annual value (AAV) in the league at $55 million.<\/p>\n

Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff and Los Angeles Chargers star Justin Herbert are just ticks behind them, with AAVs of $53 million and $52.5 million, respectively. Lamar Jackson of the Baltimore Ravens and Jalen Hurts of the Philadelphia Eagles come in with AAVs of $52 and $51 million, respectively.<\/p>\n
