Luckily for\u00a0ESPN,<\/strong>\u00a0all of the chaos at Fox Sports 1 due to a lawsuit that makes bombshell allegations against\u00a0Skip Bayless<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Joy Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0has dominated sports media news this week, burying the stumbling start for\u00a0Jason Kelce\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0new late-night show on ESPN. According to reports, the debut episode pulled in just 290,000.<\/p>\n Jason Kelce\u2019s<\/a>\u00a0<\/strong>new show, called\u00a0They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce,\u00a0<\/em>\u00a0premiered at 1 a.m. EST on Saturday, January 4, and featured Basketball Hall of Famer\u00a0Charles Barkley<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0as a guest.<\/p>\n Despite the popularity of Kelce and Barkley as a guest, though, a reported for\u00a0Puck News\u00a0<\/em>says that the debut numbers for the show are \u201cnot particularly good.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve seen the numbers for ESPN\u2019s first episode of\u00a0They Call It Late Night with Jason Kelce<\/em>, and they\u2019re not particularly good: 290,000 viewers,\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0reported John Ourand of\u00a0Puck News<\/a><\/em>.<\/p>\n \u201cComps are tough. Two weeks ago, that time slot had more than 700,000 viewers. But that figure was inflated by the Indiana-Notre Dame playoff game earlier in the night. Same time period last January averaged 436,000. From ESPN\u2019s perspective, viewership numbers from a late-night talk show that has a five-episode run don\u2019t matter nearly as much as other aspects of this programming deal. ESPN is happy to be in business with Jason Kelce, regardless.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
