Entertainers like Celine Dion and Lady Gaga delivered dazzling performances as the first musical acts during the Paris Olympics 2024 opening ceremony, but not everything was great for everyone, and the most talked-about part involved French entertainer Philippe Katerine.<\/p>\n

There were mixed reviews for the Paris 2024 opening ceremony, and the most notable was singer Philippe Katerine\u2019s turn as Dionysus in blue body paint.<\/p>\n

Friday night\u2019s Paris Olympics opening ceremony angered people worldwide. Many thought Philippe Katerine was making a mockery of Leonardo da Vinci\u2019s \u201cThe Last Supper.\u201d<\/p>\n

Katerine told\u00a0Le Parisien newspaper<\/a>\u00a0that he spent two hours in makeup being coated with \u201cgallons\u201d of waterproof paint in a shade of sky blue for this performance.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m a bit of an exhibitionist,\u201d said the 55-year-old.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Katerine recounted details of his all-body waxing: \u201cI suffered a lot, and I loved it.\u201d<\/p>\n

He further added he was \u201cproud\u201d of the performance. \u201cIt\u2019s my culture,\u201d he said. \u201cWe\u2019re full of different people, and everyone lives their own way and, above all, has the right to do so. I loved doing it.\u201d<\/p>\n

The boundary-pushing actor and singer, who has two kids with Julie Depardieu, daughter of the French actor G\u00e9rard Depardieu, said he sent a video pitching the idea, which he said was inspired by a wish to respect the original Olympic Games in Greece.<\/p>\n

\u201cNudity is really the very origin of the Games,\u201d he said. \u201cAt first, they were naturist Olympics.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Philippe Katerine said he wrote a song called \u201cNu,\u201d which means nude, and performed it for the first time on Friday. \u201cI wanted to get my message across, which goes something like this: \u201cIf you\u2019re naked, there\u2019s no war because there are no weapons.\u201d<\/p>\n
