Luigi Mangione is locked up in a notorious NYC federal detention center known for its horrible conditions \u2014 and TMZ has been given the lowdown on his life behind bars.<\/p>\n

Sources with direct knowledge tell us \u2026 Mangione is tucked away in \u201cadministrative segregation\u201d at MDC Brooklyn \u2014 with a group of inmates separated from the general population because they require heightened security.<\/p>\n

In the case of Mangione, he became infamous after being arrested for the high-profile murder of UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson \u2014 so he could be a target for other inmates. Hence, the extra security.<\/p>\n

Our sources say Mangione\u2019s locked up in a single cell \u2014 nobody\u2019s rooming with him. But, the cells are close together and inmates frequently talk to one another.<\/p>\n

We\u2019re told there aren\u2019t TVs in the segregation unit \u2026 so, there isn\u2019t a lot to do during the day.<\/p>\n

Luigi does get a chance to stretch his legs \u2026 enjoying one hour a day out of his cell in the rec pen \u2014 a large cage where he will be uncuffed. Our sources say sometimes there\u2019s a basketball or a stationary bike in it, depending on which cage is used.<\/p>\n

For his entertainment, we\u2019re told Luigi can buy an MP3 player and songs through the commissary \u2014 if someone puts money in his account, that is.<\/p>\n

Inmates are limited to $350 of spending a month \u2014 though for the holidays they\u2019re given an extra $100 added to their limit.<\/p>\n

As you know \u2026 Luigi is charged with fatally shooting Thompson in Midtown Manhattan earlier this month \u2014 with authorities throwing Mangione in MDC Brooklyn after he was extradited back to NYC from Pennsylvania.<\/p>\n

\"LUIGI<\/a><\/p>\n

Luigi\u2019s facing murder charges at both the state and federal level \u2026 and, he\u2019s allowed to meet with his attorneys while locked up in MDC Brooklyn.<\/p>\n

Diddy\u2019s locked up in the same jail \u2026 and, conditions there aren\u2019t great. But, sounds like Luigi\u2019s got a pretty simple routine as he waits for the trial.<\/p>\n
