After his\u00a0admission about eating raccoon meat<\/a>\u00a0went viral, Carolina Panthers wide receiver\u00a0Xavier Legette<\/strong>\u00a0brought some to work to share.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Legette, 23, made the culinary revelation on the December 10 episode of the \u201cSt. Brown Podcast,\u201d hosted by Detroit Lions wide receiver\u00a0Amon-Ra St. Brown<\/strong>. \u201cLike, a raccoon you see in the trash can,\u201d Legette said when asked about his hottest food take. \u201cI hunt it. I kill it. I skin \u2018em. Cook \u2018em. Eat \u2018em. All that.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

On Thursday, December 26, Legette arrived at Panthers practice with some Christmas Day raccoon leftovers in a reusable food container.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe boil that b\u2014- up,\u201d Legette told Panthers special teams coach\u00a0Daren Bates<\/strong>\u00a0while showing off the raccoon in\u00a0a video posted via X<\/a>. \u201cLet that meat fall off the bone, you know what I\u2019m talkin\u2019 about?\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A skeptical Bates found a spoon and decided to dig in. \u201cCome on, boy,\u201d Legette told him. \u201cI know that jumped straight on them [taste] buds and started dancing!\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

When asked by one of his followers, \u201cSo how was it?,\u201d Bates responded, \u201cWasn\u2019t bad. Didn\u2019t taste like I thought it would.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

It wasn\u2019t just Panthers coaches who got in on the raccoon fun, either.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Panthers beat writer\u00a0Sheena Quick<\/strong>\u00a0shared her own video interaction with Legette\u00a0via X<\/a>. \u201cY\u2019all gotta try!\u201d Legette told an assembled group of reporters.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Quick picked up a piece of raccoon meat with her fingers and gave it a go herself. \u201cThat\u2019s not bad, ain\u2019t it?,\u201d Legette asked her with a big smile on his face.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cIt ain\u2019t bad, it ain\u2019t bad,\u201d Quick said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Quick doubled down via X, writing, \u201cUPDATE: I tried the coon\u2026.and it wasn\u2019t bad! Spicy and well-seasoned.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

While passing around the meat, Legette was asked how he can consider himself \u201ca picky eater\u201d when he loves to chow down on raccoon.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cI mean, I don\u2019t eat the bell peppers and all the extra stuff like that,\u201d Legette said in\u00a0a video captured<\/a>\u00a0by Carolina Blitz. \u201cThat stuff is too exotic for me.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Legette also said he won\u2019t eat \u201conions\u201d for the same reason. \u201cThe \u2018coon is regular,\u201d Legette said with a laugh.<\/span><\/p>\n

On the \u201cSt. Brown Podcast,\u201d Legette said he\u2019s been eating raccoon all his life, especially around holidays like Christmas and Thanksgiving. In addition, Legette said he often enjoys eating squirrel and rabbit.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
