Kansas\u00a0City Chiefs superstar\u00a0Travis Kelce\u00a0went out of his way to suggest his NFL retirement could be imminent with a statement on his podcast \u2018New Heights\u2019 on Wednesday.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

When discussing one of his record-breaking stats with older brother and retired NFL legend\u00a0Jason Kelce<\/span>, Travis marveled at another Chiefs tight end.<\/p>\n

Kelce became the fastest tight end in NFL history to reach 12,000 receiving yards, doing so only in 172 games, besting the previous mark set by Tony Gonzalez in 210 games.<\/p>\n

The still-active Kelce, who turned 35 in October, is no doubt in one of the later chapters of his football career. Now it appears Kansas City\u2019s quest to become the first team in the\u00a0Super Bowl<\/span>\u00a0era to win three consecutive titles could be his swan-song season.<\/p>\n

\u2018Goddamn, [Gonzalez] played 210 games? What the f***?\u2019 Travis said to Jason.<\/p>\n

\u2018Well, he played more than that\u2026 it took him 210 games to get to 12,000,\u2019 Jason replied.<\/p>\n

Kelce suggested that his NFL retirement may be imminent during Wednesday\u2019s \u2018New Heights\u2019<\/p>\n

Kelce turned 35 in October and stated that he does not know if he has 40 career NFL games left<\/p>\n

\u2018I don\u2019t know if I can\u2026 that\u2019s almost 40 more games. I don\u2019t know if I can play 40 more!\u2019 Travis retorted.<\/p>\n

\u2018Listen, that\u2019s a lot more games. He got 15,000 [yards]!\u2019 Jason added.<\/p>\n

\u2018How did he do it? Goddamn!\u2019 Travis concluded.<\/p>\n

After Kansas City\u2019s victory over the Chargers on Sunday, Kelce has played in exactly 100 less regular-season games than Gonzalez did, who finished his legendary career with 272 NFL appearances.<\/p>\n

Travis stating he may not play in 40 more NFL games gives him two more full seasons at maximum, as the Chiefs would need to play in at least 20 games to reach a Super Bowl, as they have the last two years.<\/p>\n

Much speculation has taken place over the last year about the longevity of Kelce\u2019s career, with the impetus being his relationship with Taylor Swift.<\/p>\n

In dating Swift, the mainstream attention in all-things Kelce has skyrocketed. \u2018New Heights\u2019 signed a deal believed to be worth $100million with podcast network Wondery.<\/p>\n

Jason, who retired from the NFL in March, has since become a football analyst with ESPN, with similar opportunities believed to be out there for Travis.<\/p>\n

Travis is also currently the host of Prime Video\u2019s \u2018Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?\u2019 with panelists such as Nikki Glaser poking fun at the Chief with Swift-related jokes on a few episodes.<\/p>\n

Kelce no doubt has at least five NFL games left in his career, which represents the rest of Kansas City\u2019s regular season and a playoff contest.<\/p>\n
