The\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/jacksonville-jaguars\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Jacksonville Jaguars<\/a>\u00a0have been around for nearly 30 years but have never played on the holiday, with the league refusing to schedule them.<\/p>\n<p>This Thanksgiving will pit the Dallas Cowboys against the\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/new-york-giants\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">New York Giants<\/a>, while the Detroit Lions will play the Chicago Bears, and the Green Bay Packers will face the\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/nfl\/miami-dolphins\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Miami Dolphins<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Jags, meanwhile, will go another year without playing on the holiday.<\/p>\n<p>The team has played in London on several occasions but continues to miss out on Thanksgiving for a few reasons that actually make sense.<\/p>\n<p>Of course, money tops the NFL\u2019s list of priorities, which explains why Jacksonville continues to be overlooked.<\/p>\n<p>The city is the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/composemd.com\/2023\/09\/18\/nfl-metro-areas-by-population\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">fourth-smallest among NFL locations<\/a>, so its market isn\u2019t comparable to New York, Miami, Chicago, and Dallas. While other small-market teams have shown mettle on the field, the Jaguars have not made a case for themselves.<\/p>\n<p>That they\u2019re 29 years in existence has also played into the NFL\u2019s decision-making. Football Thanksgiving traditions have been around much longer than the Jags, so they\u2019ve had to wait in line\u2026 for a long time.<\/p>\n<p>ocation, as you would imagine, has plenty to do with it, too. The Jacksonville Jaguars play in North Florida, while the teams that typically play on Thanksgiving have no links to them in terms of rivalries or conference concerns. So, there\u2019s hardly any reason to have them play against Dallas, Chicago, Green Bay, or Detroit.<\/p>\n<p>The Packers-Dolphins game is the only fixture on this year\u2019s slate that isn\u2019t a rivalry game.
