Now that “The Voice’s” live shows are approaching, Michael Bubl\u00e9 had to select two contestants to advance to the top eight. Unfortunately, his choices sparked backlash among netizens, who believed another contestant deserved a spot more than anyone else.<\/p>\n

Part of a recent episode of “The Voice” was shared by the singing competition on Instagram. In the clip, Michael Bubl\u00e9 faced the tough decision of eliminating three out of five team members from progressing to the live shows.<\/p>\n

After emotionally stating that all his team members deserved a chance, Bubl\u00e9 selected Sofronio Vasquez and Shye Roberts. The remaining contestants, Sloane Simon, Jaukeem Fortson, and Cameron Wright, congratulated those who made it into the top eight, but not everyone agreed with the musician’s elimination picks.<\/p>\n

Even Fortson, one of the eliminated contestants, expressed his disappointment in the comments of “The Voice”‘s Instagram post. He\u00a0wrote<\/a>, “THANK YALL SO MUCH!! It is very sad I didn’t make it to lives, BUT I am forever grateful to have been on a platform like this one.[sic]”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Fortson’s fans quickly rallied behind him. One emotional commenter\u00a0wrote<\/a>,\u00a0“You deserved to make it to the lives they just made a terrible mistake by not picking you. \ud83d\ude2d.”<\/i>\u00a0Another supporter shared,\u00a0“IM SO SAD!!! You were the most talented, interesting, & best singer on this show.[sic]”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Another fan\u00a0lamented<\/a>,\u00a0“Jaukeem’s version of ‘Man in the Mirror’ could be released tonight and be a number one Hit! He is One in A Million \ud83d\ude4c\ud83d\udcaf very upsetting that you took his chance away.”<\/i>\u00a0Expressing disbelief, someone else\u00a0added<\/a>,\u00a0“Whaaaattt? Not Jaukeem? \ud83d\ude2e.[sic]”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Agreeing, another fan\u00a0commented<\/a>,\u00a0“[I am] very disappointed he wasn’t chosen!!!!”<\/i>\u00a0One supporter\u00a0remarked<\/a>,\u00a0“Hakeem was the reason I watched…won’t be watching now that’s he'[s] gone \ud83e\udd72. [sic]”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

On “The Voice”‘s Instagram post featuring Fortson’s performance of Michael Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror,” another fan expressed frustration,\u00a0stating<\/a>,\u00a0“[Fortson] should’ve won the whole show with just this song.”<\/i><\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Someone else\u00a0wrote<\/a>,\u00a0“Very very disappointed he didn’t go through!!! \ud83d\ude21,”<\/i>\u00a0while another user\u00a0called<\/a>\u00a0it the\u00a0“Best performance yet on this season !!! \ud83d\ude0d\ud83d\udd25\ud83d\udc4f\u2764\ufe0f.”\u00a0<\/i>Despite the backlash Bubl\u00e9 didn’t make his hard decision alone; he had help and guidance from his friend Carly Pearce.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Pearce served as the\u00a0Playoff Advisor for Bubl\u00e9<\/a>‘s team. Bubl\u00e9 also shared an Instagram photo of himself sitting next to Pearce on “The Voice” set. He\u00a0captioned<\/a> the post, “Excited to have my friend @CarlyPearce join me on ‘The Voice’ tonight!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The musician\u00a0added<\/a>, “Fun fact – this was when we had the great idea to record our Christmas song together. Check out the episode and the new song #MaybeThisChristmas!” In a clip from the show, Pearce was seen\u00a0meeting Bubl\u00e9’s team<\/a> and offering advice and encouragement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

The singer wasn’t the only one encouraging the team, Fortson was actively supportive of his teammates before his elimination. For instance, on November 19, 2024, he celebrated being part of Bubl\u00e9’s top five and pushed for the viewership of his team,\u00a0writing<\/a>, “I’m so excited! Please watch my talented friends tonight!!!!\ud83c\udfa4”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

After his elimination, he confirmed his departure from “The Voice” on Instagram. Fortson\u00a0shared<\/a>, “I’ve learned so much and met some amazing people who share the same love for music that I do.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

He revealed that being part of the competition was a major accomplishment and that he was excited for the next chapter of his journey. Fortson encouraged his fans,\u00a0saying<\/a>, “When one door closes, another one opens!”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Thanking them for their support, he expressed excitement for what lies ahead. Fortson concluded his post by revealing that he is okay and asked fans to\u00a0share<\/a>\u00a0“Positive comments [and] nothing sad \ud83d\ude43.”<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

During his playoff performance of “Man in the Mirror,” Fortson\u00a0received enthusiastic praise<\/a>\u00a0from the judges. Despite being only 14, he impressed both the audience and the panel with his vocal abilities.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
