Travis Kelce<\/a>\u00a0said his brother\u00a0Jason Kelce<\/a>\u00a0was defending his family when he reacted to a heckling fan Saturday by\u00a0slamming the fan\u2019s phone<\/a>\u00a0onto the ground. The brothers discussed the incident, which led to a\u00a0Penn State police investigation<\/a>\u00a0and included Jason exchanging a homophobic slur with the fan, on an episode of their \u201cNew Heights Podcast\u201d released Wednesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cI know it\u2019s weighing on you, brother. \u2026 Everybody passing around the videos that are out there. That\u2019s gonna make it a bigger situation than, I think, what it really is,\u201d\u00a0Travis said on the podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut the real situation is you had some f\u2014 clown come up to you and talk about your family and you reacted in a way that was defending your family. And you might have used some words that you regret using. And that\u2019s a situation that where you just kinda have to learn from and own.\u201d<\/p>\n

Jason, a former\u00a0Philadelphia Eagles<\/a>\u00a0center, was in State College to appear on \u201cCollege GameDay,\u201d which was in town for Saturday\u2019s matchup between Penn State and Ohio State. While outside Beaver Stadium, a fan walking behind Jason can be heard on video using a homophobic slur regarding the relationship between Taylor Swift and Travis. The fan said: \u201cKelce, how does it feel that your brother is a fa\u2014 for dating Taylor Swift?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jason then turned around and appeared to take the phone of the fan who said the slur and throw it on the ground. The fan demanded Jason give him the phone back and Jason responded: \u201cWho\u2019s the fa\u2014 now?\u201d<\/p>\n

Jason Kelce\u00a0previously addressed the incident<\/a>\u00a0on ESPN\u2019s \u201cMonday Night Countdown\u201d and said he was \u201cnot proud of it.\u201d On the podcast, he expressed further remorse, saying he\u2019s \u201cnot happy about the situation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cMe reacting gave him the time of day and it also gave the situation notoriety,\u201d Jason said. \u201cThat\u2019s what I regret. It didn\u2019t deserve attention. It\u2019s really stupid. And if I just keep walking, it\u2019s a nothing burger. Nobody sees it. Now it\u2019s out there and it just perpetuates more hate.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe thing I regret the most is saying that word, to be honest with you. The word (the fan) used, it\u2019s just ridiculous and it takes it to another level. \u2026 It\u2019s dehumanizing and it got under my skin.\u201d<\/p>\n

Travis commended his brother for \u201cowning\u201d the situation, telling Jason that \u201cspeaking about it shows how sincere you are to a lot of people in this world.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cEspecially what you said on Monday night that you \u2026 you don\u2019t choose hate. That\u2019s just not who you are,\u201d Travis said.<\/p>\n

A Penn State University Police and Public Safety spokesperson confirmed Tuesday the department is investigating the incident and the process for reviewing the case is ongoing.<\/p>\n
