Patrick and Brittany are co-owners of the Kansas City Royals (MLB) and the Kansas City Current (NWSL), and the former has a stake in Sporting Kansas City (MLS).<\/p>\n<p>According to ESPN\u2019s Adam Schefter, Patrick and Brittany have spoken with the\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/wnba\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WNBA<\/a>\u00a0about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AdamSchefter\/status\/1851718948620046454\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">bringing an expansion franchise<\/a>\u00a0to Kansas City. The league will welcome the Golden State Valkyries in 2025 and two new expansion franchises from Toronto and Portland (team names to be announced) in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>The WNBA finished its final season as a 12-team league this month. There are six teams in each of its two divisions, the East and West.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">As WNBA expansion continues, ownership of the NWSL&#8217;s KC Current \u2014 which includes Patrick Mahomes and his wife, Brittany \u2014 has met with the WNBA and is in contention to bring the league&#8217;s next franchise to Kansas City. The NBA\u2019s Sacramento Kings played in Kansas City from 1972 to \u201985 before relocating.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, the NHL\u2019s New Jersey Devils started out in Kansas City as the Scouts (1974-76) before relocating to Colorado. After six seasons in Denver, the franchise was relocated to New Jersey in 1982.<\/p>\n<p>The state of Missouri is also home to the NHL\u2019s St. Louis Blues, the\u00a0<a class=\"mai-link-injected\" href=\"https:\/\/www.totalprosports.com\/mlb\/st-louis-cardinals\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">St. Louis Cardinals<\/a>\u00a0of Major League Baseball and St. Louis City SC of Major League Soccer.
