during his huge MAGA rally at Madison Square Garden on Sunday.<\/a><\/p>\nTrump claimed to nearly 20,000 supporters that Adams \u201chas been treated pretty badly\u201d because Hizzoner spoke out about the migrant crisis that has engulfed the Big Apple for much of his tenure.<\/p>\n
\u201cYou know, when he said that this whole thing with the migrants coming into New York, this is just not sustainable. You know, we can\u2019t do it. When Trump first thanked Adams, there were few cheers for the Democrat \u2014 but even more boos.<\/p>\n
Adams was hit with five charges last month in the historic corruption case brought against him by Manhattan federal prosecutors.\u00a0There is no evidence Adams was indicted for his concerns about the migrant crisis, though he also asserted when news broke of the indictment he was being persecuted by the feds for\u00a0speaking out about the influx of migrants.<\/p>\n
Adams, who has pleaded not guilty, is accused of raking in free and upgraded flights\u00a0courtesy of Turkish businessmen<\/a>\u00a0in exchange for favors dating back to 2016, which Trump mentioned during his wide-ranging address.<\/p>\n<\/button>Mayor Eric Adams is facing a federal indictment on corruption charges.Lev Radin\/Shutterstock<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\u201cI think they upgraded his seat in an airplane. \u201cThey\u2019ve upgraded my seat a lot, too. I used to fly commercial. I don\u2019t fly so much anymore, but they\u2019d see me back there and sure, would you like an upgrade,\u201d Trump went on to say. \u201cI don\u2019t know, maybe it\u2019s something else.\u201d<\/p>\n
Trump also said Adams has been \u201creally great\u201d after the mayor\u00a0defended the Republican nominee<\/a>\u00a0on Saturday over Democrats calling the presidential candidate a \u201cfascist.\u201d<\/p>\n
