Mahomes’ father spent 10 days in jail in September and is on probation for five years<\/p>\n

A<\/span>s you may recall, last September,\u00a0Patrick Mahomes Sr<\/a>., father of\u00a0Kansas City Chiefs<\/strong>\u00a0quarterback\u00a0Patrick Mahomes<\/a>, was sentenced to\u00a010 days in jail<\/strong>, five years of probation, and one year of “intense supervision” following his\u00a0guilty plea for his third DWI charge<\/strong>. Arrested in February,\u00a0just days before the Super Bowl<\/a>\u00a0against the\u00a0San Francisco 49ers<\/strong>, with a blood alcohol level of 0.23,\u00a0Mahomes Sr.<\/strong>\u00a0faced additional penalties, including a one-year driver’s license suspension,\u00a0mandatory AA courses<\/strong>, and a breathalyzer ignition device in his car. Despite the legal consequences, he still hopes to continue attending his son’s games, though it remains uncertain if he will be allowed to travel outside Texas and hasn’t seen him in the\u00a0five unbeaten games<\/strong>the Chiefs<\/a> have played this season.<\/p>\n

The video of the arrest, which took place a week before\u00a0Super Bowl LVIII<\/strong>, has now been released. In the footage,\u00a0Pat Mahomes Sr.<\/strong>\u00a0is seen in the back of a\u00a0police car<\/strong>, handcuffed, and speaking to the officer. “My son is getting ready to play in the Super Bowl. This can’t happen right now. I mean, I can have someone come get me,<\/em><\/strong>” he says. In the full video, the officer, in a calm and professional manner, explains to Mahomes Sr. why he was arrested and that he is simply doing his job, which is true. While\u00a0Mahomes Sr. does appear<\/a>\u00a0to be under the influence, he also acts calmly, seemingly aware that the situation could have been worse.\u00a0Judge the video<\/strong>\u00a0for yourself and analyze the situation carefully.<\/p>\n
