But the star quarterback showed nerves of steel as he led his team to a second successive title win.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Sr. must have been extra relieved as he would have probably blamed himself, given that he was visibly frustrated after getting into trouble with the law so close to one of the biggest games of his son\u2019s career.<\/p>\n<p>Mahomes was heard name-dropping his son in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=bRMqiOftPb4&amp;ab_channel=TMZSports\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">newly-released footage<\/a>\u00a0from TMZ after he was pulled over on February 3.<\/p>\n<p>He admitted to having a few drinks but insisted he was not drunk as he pleaded with an officer to allow someone to pick him up, stating an arrest would be too much for the Chiefs QB to deal with given that he was about to play in such a big game.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAre y\u2019all serious?\u201d\u00a0<\/em>\u2026 he asked,<em>\u00a0\u201cI\u2019m supposed to be going to the Super Bowl to watch my son play football, and this is what we\u2019re doing?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He was placed into a squad car, where he\u2019s shown begging to be released.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Patrick Mahomes Sr. Told Cops Arrest Would 'F*** With' Son, Cost Chiefs Super Bowl | TMZ Sports\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/bRMqiOftPb4\" width=\"882\" height=\"496\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cCan I say one thing?\u201d\u00a0<\/em>he asked the officer.<em>\u00a0\u201cMy son is getting ready to play in the f***ing Super Bowl, OK? Just listen to me. I am not drunk. I promise you. I\u2019ve had some drinks. But he can\u2019t have this right now. Listen, this can\u2019t happen.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>He was also heard cursing himself out, saying he messed up after the lawman left him alone for a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDude. This is crazy,\u201d<\/em>\u00a0he added later on.\u00a0<em>\u201cMy son is getting ready to play in the f***ing Super Bowl and I\u2019m doing interviews \u2014 five or six a day. And then, now, this s***\u2019s going to be on the news which is going to f*** with him, and it\u2019s probably going to f*** him up.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd he probably won\u2019t win the Super Bowl. But that\u2019s fine. If that\u2019s what y\u2019all want to do, that\u2019s good.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<h2 id=\"h-patrick-mahomes-sr-was-not-convincing-enough\" class=\"wp-block-heading\">Patrick Mahomes Sr. Was Not Convincing Enough<\/h2>\n<p>Of course, the pleas fell on deaf ears as the senior Mahomes was subsequently taken to jail.<\/p>\n<p>He was released several hours later and was allowed to leave Texas to watch the game in Las Vegas.<\/p>\n<p>Patrick Mahomes Sr. claims to have sobered up and hasn\u2019t had a drink since the incident, which he claimed was an eye-opener for him.
