One Direction<\/a>\u00a0has broken its silence\u00a0following the untimely death<\/a>\u00a0of\u00a0Liam Payne.<\/a><\/p>\n On Thursday, Oct. 17, the surviving band members \u2014 Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan \u2014 shared a\u00a0joint statement on Instagram<\/a>\u00a0that said they are processing “the loss of our brother.”<\/p>\n “We\u2019re completely devastated by the news of Liam\u2019s passing,” it began. “In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly.”<\/p>\n The statement continued: “The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you Liam. Louis, Zayn, Niall and Harry.”<\/p>\n On Wednesday, Oct. 16, Payne was pronounced dead after falling multiple stories at the CasaSur Palermo Hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Polic\u00eda Federal Argentina confirmed to PEOPLE. Argentine news channel\u00a0TN<\/a>\u00a0was first to report the news.<\/p>\n In a statement translated from Spanish, Alberto Crescenti (the head of SAME, Buenos Aires’ public emergency medical services system) told TN that the British singer fell into the hotel\u2019s internal courtyard.<\/p>\n Payne is survived by his 7-year-old son\u00a0Bear Grey<\/a>, with his ex, Girls Aloud singer\u00a0Cheryl<\/a>.<\/p>\n
