New York Jets<\/a>\u00a0superfan Ed Anzalone, widely known as \u201cFireman Ed\u201d took to Instagram to accuse the team of \u201cphasing\u201d him out amid a turbulent start to the 2024 regular season.<\/p>\n A longtime fan of the New York football team, Fireman Ed is easily recognizable with his customized Jets firefighter hat and Bruce Harper jersey. Ed leads the booming \u201cJ-E-T-S! JETS! JETS! JETS!\u201d and is frequently shown on the video boards at MetLife Stadium to fire up the crowd.<\/p>\n Apparently, fellow Gang Green supporters have noticed that Anzalone hasn\u2019t been showcased as much during Jets home games this year. It got to the point where the 65-year-old fan decided to address the matter in an Instagram video, where he expressed confusion\u00a0about being<\/a>\u00a0\u201cphased\u201d out by the team:<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019ve been getting a lot of emails and texts from fans about the Jet experience in the stadium with the big screens. Last night in particular \u2014 although on the Denver game also \u2014 last night in particular [the Jets] scored a touchdown and normally as a tradition we\u2019re always put on the screen.\u201d<\/p>\n \u201cI don\u2019t know exactly what\u2019s going on, but they\u2019re phasing us out. I\u2019d like to know if somebody knows anything, please let me know, because it\u2019s evident that it\u2019s happening. And it needs to stop because we need home-field advantage. That\u2019s what we have and we need to keep it going. Something is going on, so please let me know if you know something.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n It\u2019s indeed bizarre that the Jets football team has broken tradition without a clear-cut explanation to Fireman Ed.
