Aidan Hutchinson<\/a>\u00a0was in the midst of an all-time season for himself and as a defensive end, and now, it has ended with unfulfilled dreams.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0Detroit Lions<\/a>\u00a0earned an impressive 47-9 win over the Dallas Cowboys in Week 6, but it came at a cost: The team\u2019s top defensive player suffered a gruesome leg injury and had to be carted off.<\/p>\n

The play occurred when Hutchinson sacked Cowboys quarterback\u00a0Dak Prescott<\/a>\u00a0in the third quarter of the game, and as he was doing so, the Lions pass rusher\u2019s left leg whipped into the leg of his teammate Alim McNeill as he rounded the corner.<\/p>\n

It was enough to break his leg.<\/p>\n

Aidan Hutchinson somehow managed to finish the sack, but he remained down in pain after the play, immediately reaching for his injured left leg.<\/p>\n

His reaction, as well as the reactions of other players, made it obvious that he was not getting up and was likely done for the year.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

After going through surgery, the Detroit Lions star edge rusher released a statement.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The inspirational message was posted to Instagram, thanking his supporters while announcing that he is on the road to recovery.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn light of Aidan\u2019s injury last night, we want to thank you all for the outpouring of love and well wishes,\u201d the statement read. \u201cYour support through this shocking situation means so much to our family.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are blessed to share that Aidan\u2019s surgery was a success. Thank you to the doctors and nurses who have taken such good care of him. Aidan wants you all to know that his healing and redemption story has begun. He is holding the motto of Detroit close to his heart: resurget cineribus. He will rise from the ashes.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
