Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce apparently wants to take the \u2018foot\u2019 out of football.<\/p>\n

On the latest episode of his \u2018New Heights\u2019 podcast alongside his brother and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, Jason went off on what he deems to be the scourge of the league: kickers making too many field goals.<\/p>\n

The Eagles great, who jokingly took credit for Travis\u2019 recent return to form, ranted about how easy it\u2019s become for kickers to knock through field goals of exceeding distance \u2013 even suggesting they should do away with the position altogether.<\/p>\n

\u2018Kickers are making 60-yarders like it\u2019s routine, we need to narrow these field goals,\u2019 Jason said.<\/p>\n

\u2018It\u2019s too easy to kick field goals now. We gotta go to rugby goalposts. Kickers should not be influencing football games as much as they are right now.\u2019<\/p>\n

For reference, the inside of the posts in rugby union spans 5.6 meters (18 feet, 4.4 inches), while an NFL goal post spans\u2026 5.64m (18 feet, 6 inches).<\/p>\n

\u2018We need to make kickers way less valuable. That is not what football is about,\u2019 Jason continued.<\/p>\n

\u2018Me and [former Eagles linebacker] Connor Barwin said this like ten years ago: we need to get specialists out of the NFL. Just kickers and long snappers, freakin\u2019 punter ruined the game.\u2019<\/p>\n

Travis intervened saying: \u2018What everything\u2019s gotta be a Hail Mary now? It adds excitement to the game.\u2019<\/p>\n

But Jason was having none of it: \u2018Just throw the ball through the uprights. Why do we have to have this guy come out here and kick it? That doesn\u2019t belong on the football field.\u2019<\/p>\n
